Construct a Normal Cutout (Part Environment)

Step 1.

Choose Home tab→Solids group→Cut list→Normal Cutout.

Step 2.

Select a closed curve or a sketch that lies on a part face.

Step 3.

Click the Accept (check mark) button on the command bar.

Step 4.

Step 5.

Step 6.

Click Finish.

Tip:

  • In the Select Curve Step, you can specify which surfaces to cut. The Faces Touching Curves option cuts only faces touched by the curve set. The All Faces option cuts all the faces inside the curve.

  • Before you construct a normal cutout, a curve must already reside on the face. You can use the Project Curve or Wrap Sketch commands to project a sketch onto the face you want.

  • Nested curves and multiple disjoint curves are supported for text type applications.

  • If features are present inside a curve where material is added, gaps may occur if you use the Faces Touching Curve option. Use the All Faces option.

  • When removing or adding material around holes or cutout features, the features must be of finite depth.
