Construct a Normal Protrusion

Step 1.

Choose Home tab→Solids group→Add list→Normal Protrusion.

Step 2.

Select a closed curve or a sketch that lies on a part face.

Step 3.

Click the Accept (check mark) button on the command bar.

Step 4.

Step 5.

Step 6.

Click Finish.

Tip:

  • In the Select Curve Step, you can specify which surfaces to modify. The Faces Touching Curves button lets you modify only faces touched by the curve set. The All Faces button lets you cut all the faces inside the curve.

  • Before you construct a normal protrusion, a curve must already reside on the face. You can use the Project Curve or Wrap Sketch commands to project a sketch onto the face you want.

  • Nested curves and multiple disjoint curves are supported for text type applications.

  • If features are present inside a curve where material is added, gaps may occur if you use the Faces Touching Curve option. Use the All Faces option.

  • When adding material around holes or cutout features, the features must be of finite depth.
