About Solid Edge Administrator

Displays information about your copy of Solid Edge Administrator.

Save

Saves changes you have made to properties. This option is disabled if you use the Property Manager command in Solid Edge. To save your changes, use the Save command on the File menu.

Print

Sends a copy of the active document to a specified plotter, printer, or file. Options are available for defining the printing area, range, number of copies, and other printing characteristics.

Before using this command, you must install and select a printer. For help installing a printer, see the Windows documentation.

Cut

Cuts the current selection and pastes it to the Clipboard.

Copy

Copies the current selection to the Clipboard.

Paste

Inserts the Clipboard contents at the specified insertion point.

Restore

Sets all cells back to the previous values.

Options Display List

Contains three columns that control the options that users can change.

Option

Displays a read-only list of the Solid Edge options that you can change.

Allow Override

Controls whether or not you can override an option value. To change the value, click the cell, and select the appropriate value from the pull-down menu. You can only overwrite a user's option settings if this option is set to Yes. If you attempt to change a user's option settings with this option set to No, the settings will not change.

Value

Specifies a value for an option. If you double click in this column for an option that contains a file location, the Browse dialog box is displayed. You can use the dialog box to select a file location or dismiss the dialog box. When you dismiss the dialog box, you are placed in edit mode and can enter a new file location.

Option Value

The following describes the values for the options that you can allow users to override. Values for the options related to file locations can be changed on the File Locations tab of the Options dialog box.

Pre-Released Documents

Specifies the locations for documents with a pre-released status.

Released Documents

Specifies the locations for documents with a released status.

Obsolete Documents

Specifies the locations for documents with an obsolete status.

Packaged Collaboration Documents

Specifies the location for saving package collaboration files to a managed site.

ECR Documents

Specifies the locations for Engineering Change Review documents.

ECO Documents

Specifies the locations for Engineering Change Order documents used in implementing an Engineering Change Order process in Insight.

Log Files

Specifies the folder for the Insight error log file.

Insight Folder Mapping

Defines the location of FolderMap.txt which is used to resolve links while importing files to SharePoint.

Insight XT Folder Mapping

Defines the location of InsightXTFoldermap.txt which is used to resolve links while importing files to SharePoint.

Standard Parts SAC File

Specifies the location of the standard parts global definition and settings file.

Life Cycle - Make Obsolete

Allows users to override the Automatically Make Sibling and Parent Revisions Obsolete control on the Manage tab of the Options dialog box. The control specifies whether or not Solid Edge automatically makes documents at the same revision level, also known as sibling documents, and documents at a lower revision level, also known as parent documents, obsolete.

Life Cycle - Update Draft

Allows users to override the Automatically Set the Draft Status to Match the Status of the Part Placed in the Drawing option on the Manage tab of the Options dialog box. The control specifies whether or not Solid Edge automatically updates the status of where-used draft documents as part of the Life Cycle Assistant command.

Prevent Duplicate Document Names in Insight

Overrides the prevention of duplicate file names across the entire managed area.

Show Check Out All command

Determines whether or not the Check Out All command is available in the Assembly PathFinder Manage tab and shortcut command options.

Revision Delimiter

Allows you to override the revision delimiter. The revision delimiter specifies the delimiting character used by the Increment Name command to separate the document's name from the revision number.

User Templates

Specifies the location of user templates. User templates contain default sets of properties that define what a new document will look like. You can use a template to set standards for a group of users or to define your own preferences.

Property Seed File

Specifies the location of Propseed.txt. The Propseed.txt file populates values on the Properties dialog box.

Custom Settings File

Specifies the location of Custom.xml. The custom hole sizes section of this file populates the Saved Settings for the Hole command.

Hole Size File

Specifies the location of Holes.txt. The Holes.txt file populates values on the Hole Options dialog box.

Pipe Threads File

Specifies the location of Threads.txt. The Threads.txt file populates values on the Thread Options dialog box.

Link Mgmt File

Specifies the location of Linkmgmt.txt. The LinkMgmt.txt file specifies the search order and search algorithm defining the folders to search when resolving links.

Search Scope

Specifies the location of SearchScope.txt. The SearchScope.txt file defines locations, such as the URLs of sites and individual document libraries, for the Where Used and Search commands.

Solid Edge Admin

Specifies the folder and name of the options configuration file which is used by the Solid Edge Administrator to define corporate policies.

Linear Revisions

Controls how users can create document revisions. With linear revisions, users can create one revision from a document. For example, for part A, you could create revision B. You could then create a second revision C. If you leave the Allow Override field to Yes and the Value field set to False, you allow users to create multiple revisions from a single file. For example you could use Part A to create revisions B1 and B2.

Store Geometry in Part File for Fast Open

Allows users to override the Store Geometry in Part File for Fast Open control on the General tab. This control allows you to store geometry display information so that your documents open faster.

Disable Revision Manager

Disables Revision Manager. To disable the option, set the Allow Override field to Yes and set the Value field to True.  Once disabled, an error message is displayed if you select Revision Manager from the Start menu. If you disable Revision Manager and start Insight Connect, the default environment is View and Markup.

Inactivate All Parts When Opening Assemblies

Allows users to override the Inactivate All Parts When Opening Assemblies control on the Open dialog box. This control allows you to inactivate all parts when you open assemblies. You can also improve performance opening large assemblies with all of the parts inactive.

Allow Unreleased Links

Allows users to release or baseline assemblies and drafts that contain links that are not released or baselined. When the value is set to false, Solid Edge forces users to release or baseline all linked documents before releasing the assembly.

Show Revision Manager Actions in Past Tense

Allows users to override the Changes the Change Text to Past Tense When Action is Complete option on the General tab of the Options dialog box. When the value is set to false, the option is set to use past tense.

Backup Folder

Specifies the location for files that are created when automatic backup is run.

Frame Local Library Folder

Specifies the location for the local folder for the frame components.

Replace Filename

Overrides the file name display with the property value display in PathFinder. You can click Value to display the Document Name Formula dialog box, so you can select the property values to display.

Start Up Screen

Specifies the location of the file that comprises the initial display page within Solid Edge.

Show Start Up Screen

Determines if the initial page within Solid Edge is displayed if no files are open.

Allow Checkin Files from Cache Manager

Determines whether or not files can be checked in to the managed location from inside Cache Manager.

Allow Synchronize Files from Cache Manager

Determines whether or not files in the local cache can be synchronized with files in the managed location from within Cache Manager.

Allow Download Files from Cache Manager

Determines whether or not files can be downloaded from the managed location to the local cache from within Cache Manager.

Material Table

Defines the available list of materials for the material table within Solid Edge.

Wire Harness Configuration File

Specifies the location of the SEHarness.txt file, which defines the data format for ECAD net list files.

Wire Harness Conductor File

Specifies the location of the SEConductors.txt file, which contains information about the wires, cables, and bundles used in wire harness design.

Restrict Revision By Group

Restricts the ability to create revisions based on users' SharePoint group memberships.

EC Coordinator Group Site Location

Specifies the location of the SharePoint group site that controls a user's ability to make revisions.

EC Coordinator Group Name

Specifies the name of the SharePoint group that controls a user's ability to make revisions.

Generate SE Manager Mappings on Connection

Specifies whether or not to check if the property mappings between Teamcenter and Solid Edge have changed when users log on. If the option is not set, the check is made if the mapping files are not in the administration connection.

Generate Insight XT Mappings on Connection

Specifies whether or not to check if the property mappings between Insight XT and Solid Edge have changed when users log on. If the option is not set, the check is made if the mapping files are not in the administration connection.

Life Cycle — Always Process Incomplete Files

Forces the completion of a Lifecycle Assistant run and does not allow it to be canceled.

Virtual Component Names File

Specifies the location of the VCNames.txt file. This file is used by the Solid Edge Virtual Component Structure Editor to provide predefined names for Virtual Assembly, Virtual Part, and Virtual Sheet Metal components.

Only use Teamcenter commands

Prevents or allows users to work with documents not managed by Teamcenter. If the option is True, users are not allowed to save or open unmanaged files; they can only open, create, and save documents in Teamcenter.

Only use Insight XT commands

Prevents or allows users to work with documents not managed by Insight XT. If the option is True, users are not allowed to save or open unmanaged files; they can only open, create, and save documents in Insight XT.

Teamcenter Formula

Sets a formula for display within the Solid Edge user interface. It replaces the file name in PathFinder and in the application title.

Sets the formula for display within the Solid Edge user interface. It replaces the file name in PathFinder and in the application title.

Doc Control Coordinator Group Site Location

Specifies the location of the SharePoint group that controls a user's ability to move documents between document libraries when the destination has fewer columns than the source. This condition represents a loss of SharePoint column data and users not explicitly part of this SharePoint Group are not allowed to complete such transactions.

Doc Control Coordinator Group Name

Specifies the SharePoint group with appropriate permissions for moving data when a loss of column data exists.

Delete Source on Overwrite

Specifies whether to overwrite or preserve the unique ID of a file when an overwrite condition occurs in Insight during Life Cycle Assistant or Move Managed Documents. With the default value of true, a file moving through LCA assumes the ID of a previously released file of the same name thereby overwriting it.

Default Folder Map Destination

Allows the administrator to specify a default folder to use if there is an entry missing in Foldermap.txt.

SEEC Cache

Specifies the default location of the Solid Edge Embedded Client cache.

Insight XT Cache

Defines the default location of the Insight XT Client cache.

Use Pre-defined Search Properties

Determines if an administrator-defined set of search properties are used during a search or if the default properties are used.

Revise Draft on Revise of 3D File

Specifies that a Where Used search for draft documents is automatically performed so that draft documents can be revised when 3D documents are revised.

Allow Traditional to Synchronous Conversion

Specifies whether traditional Solid Edge files can be converted to synchronous Solid Edge files.

Managed Standard Parts

Defines the location to save Solid Edge Standard Parts in the Insight SharePoint library. The location is used by Life Cycle Assistant to determine where Standard Parts are located. If a Standard Part is lifecycled, the status changes but the file is not moved.

Prompt for file properties

Controls the default behavior for automatically prompting for file properties on the first save of a part or sheet metal file.

Reports

Defines the default location for the reports folder and whether or not the location can be changed. If no location is specified, the installation location, \Solid Edge ST5\Template\Reports, is used.

Use Formula for Placement Name

Specifies that the Document Name Formula is used in place of the file name. If a placement name override exists, the formula is displayed and the placement name override is appended to the end and shown in parentheses. When you display the formula for the placement name, the actual document name is not changed, only the displayed information.

Life Cycle – Always Inherit Permissions

Specifies that the permissions on a file match the default permissions of the parent folder or document library when the status of a document is changed in Life Cycle Assistant. If the value is no, you have the option to retain the custom permissions as long as the document does not move to a different library.

Defines the location of SELimitsAndFitsTableISO.txt.

Display Property Text Error String

Specifies whether an error displays when the definition of customer properties is missing properties. If the value is Yes, Solid Edge error messages are used. When the value is No, no error messages are displayed. If you set the values to User Defined, you create the error message that displays using the User Defined Property Text Error String definition.

User Defined Property Text Error String

Defines the error string displayed when the Display Property Text Error String is set to User Defined.

Life Cycle — Allow obsolete status

Lifts the restriction that blocks the document life cycle process when the structure includes references to Obsolete documents.

Save All Colors to PDF as Black

Specifies all colors in the file are saved as black to the PDF file.

Save Individual Sheet Sizes to PDF

Specifies the individual sheets are used to create sheets of the same size in the PDF file.

Default Modeling Environment

Sets the default modeling environment for Part and Sheet Metal documents. You can choose between Synchronous and Ordered when you create a new document. When you set the allow overrides to no, the radio buttons in the Helpers page of the Solid Edge Options dialog box are disabled and the environment is set as specified in the options file.

Suppress Customization Merge Warning

Determines whether or not to show the ribbon customization merge message informing you that your customization for the previous release is being merged with the new Solid Edge Default Ribbon layout. When set to Yes, you will not see the merge message. This option is only used when upgrading from ST3 to ST4.

OverrideRadialCustomMerge

Determines whether or not to show the radial customization merge message. This option is only used when upgrading from ST3 to ST4.

Configuration Names

Sets the path/filename for the default configuration names text file.

Fit View After Apply

Determines whether to fit configurations after they are applied. (On/Off)

List Exploded Configs

Determines whether to list exploded configurations in the assembly environment. (On/Off)

Sheet Metal Gage File

Sets the path and name for the Excel spreadsheet containing gage table information.

Use the Teamcenter model data cache

Enables the client model cache introduced with Teamcneter 9.1.

SharePoint URL (root site) for Search Service Application Name

Lists available SharePoint URLs.

SharePoint Search Service Application Name

Displays a list of available Search Service Application Names.

SharePoint Scope

Displays a dialog box of available scopes for the selected Search Service Application Name.

Limit Search to this Search Service Application and Scope

Determines whether to limit a search to the specified Search Service Application and scope.(True/False)
