Controlling simplified assemblies

Do this

Work with the Simplified assembly tools.

Choose Tools tab→Model group→Simplify.

Work in the main Assembly environment.

Choose Tools tab→Model group→Design.

Specify that the simplified version of an assembly is used when an assembly is placed into another assembly.

In the Parts Library tab, on the shortcut menu, set the Use Simplified Assemblies command.

Specify that the designed version of an assembly is used when an assembly is placed into another assembly.

In the Parts Library tab, on the shortcut menu, clear the Use Simplified Assemblies command.

Display the simplified version of a subassembly.

Select the subassembly in PathFinder, then on the shortcut menu point to Simplify, then click Use Simplified Assembly.

Display the designed version of a subassembly.

Select the subassembly in PathFinder, then on the shortcut menu point to Simplify, then click Use Designed Assembly.

Update a simplified assembly after design changes

Click the Simplified Representation entry in PathFinder, then on the Tools tab, in the Simplify group, click the Update command.

Tip:

You can also specify whether the simplified representation of an assembly is used when opening an assembly and when placing drawing views of the assembly.
