If you are in Teamcenter mode, the Search dialog box displays the options for searching the Teamcenter database.

Look In

Displays the drive and folder which is currently displayed. You can click the arrow to browse to a different drive or folder. The system stores the last location you browsed in the Look In box. In Teamcenter mode, you can browse your Teamcenter database.

Note:

If you are running Windows NT and want to browse a network share, you must map the share to a network drive. After you map the network drive, you can select it from the Look In list.

Preview Area

Displays an image of the selected document. You can use the Preview dialog box to specify whether the image is a bitmap or an interactive preview.

Add As Real Component

Adds the existing component to the physical assembly structure as a real component, rather than as a pre-defined component. When you set this option, the 3D geometry associated with the document is placed in the assembly with no relationships applied and is automatically hidden. When this option is set you can only place the component in the top-level assembly.

You can position real components in the virtual assembly using assembly relationships such as mate and align, or 2D relationships and dimensions such as Connect and Distance Between.

Right Pane Options

Virtual Assembly

Specifies that the virtual component you are creating will be an assembly document when published.

Virtual Part

Specifies that the virtual component you are creating will be a part document when published.

Virtual Sheet Metal

Specifies that the virtual component you are creating will be a sheet metal document when published.

Pre-Defined

Specifies that the existing document you dragged and dropped into the virtual assembly structure is being placed as a pre-defined component.

Name

Specifies the name for the virtual component. You can type the name you want in the Name box or select an existing name form the list. The name you type is used as the document name when published.

You can customize the Names list by editing the VCNames.txt file in the Solid Edge Preferences folder. Separate sections in the VCNames.txt file allow you to define unique virtual component names for part, sheet metal, and assembly components.

Add Virtual Component

Adds the virtual component name and model type to the tree structure. You can also press the ENTER key to add the virtual component name and model type to the tree structure. You can control the location at which the new virtual component is added to the virtual assembly structure. For example, if you have already defined a virtual subassembly, you can select the virtual subassembly in the Structure Pane before you add a new virtual component. New virtual components are then added to the selected virtual assembly.

Delete

Deletes the selected virtual component from the tree structure.

Promote Component

Moves the selected component up one level in the assembly structure. Promoting and demoting components allows you to refine the assembly structure.  For example, if you want to move a component from a virtual subassembly into the next higher level assembly, you can select the component, then click the Promote Component button.

Demote Component

Moves the selected component one level down in the assembly structure. When you demote a virtual part, a new virtual subassembly is created, and the selected component is placed in the new virtual subassembly.

Virtual Component Structure Pane

Displays the structure of the virtual project. In Teamcenter mode, the document name formula is displayed instead of the filename. For an explanation of the symbols used in the Virtual Component Structure Pane, see the Determining the Status of a Virtual Component section of the Creating and Publishing Virtual Components Help topic.
