After you place a drawing view containing a member of a family of parts, you add dimensions to it. The last step is to link the drawing dimensions to the variables in the family of parts table. This creates associativity between the variable table and the drawing.
Using the Create Drawing command in a part document or by running the Drawing View Wizard directly from a draft document, place one or more drawing views of family members on a drawing sheet.

Choose the Family Of Parts Table command

On the drawing sheet, click a family member drawing view.
Select family variables--On the Variables tab (Family Of Parts Table Properties dialog box), do one of the following:
To accept the default list of variables, continue with step 6.
To modify the default list of variables, you can:
Add a variable to the drawing table by clicking the variable in the left-hand pane and then clicking Add.
Remove a variable from the drawing table by clicking the variable in the right-hand pane and then clicking Remove.
Click OK to import the family of parts data and continue.
On the active drawing sheet, click to place the table.
Link variables to drawing dimensions--On the Family Of Parts Table command bar, from the Variables list, select a variable. In a drawing view, click the corresponding dimension.
Repeat step 9 for each variable you want to link.
Note:
You can only link driven dimensions.
You can link a family variable to more than one dimension, but you can link a dimension to just one family of parts table.
On the command bar, click Finish.
Tip:
Before you click to place the table, you can specify the table style and the maximum table height or number of data rows using the General tab. The Location tab specifies the placement location on the sheet, and whether to place it on the current sheet or on one or more new table sheets. To learn more, see Defining table size and location.
If you place the table on a different sheet than where the source drawing view is located, you can move the drawing view to the table sheet by selecting the drawing view and then using the Sheet control on the General tab (Drawing View Properties dialog box).
To make changes to a family of parts table after you place it on the drawing sheet, click the table and then modify it using the options on the Family of Parts Table command bar. To edit the family of parts table properties, right-click the table and choose Properties to open the Family of Parts Table Properties dialog box.
You can use the Groups tab to group table data into categories, which keep like items together. You can use the Sorting tab to specify the order in which the table columns are displayed.
You can add user-defined rows and data to the family of parts table, hide rows from the drawing table, and move rows using the options on the Data tab. To learn how to make these table modifications, see Make changes to a table or parts list.
