Solid Edge allows you to create a table containing custom information and then attach the information to geometry such as faces, edges, and vertices. This is an effective way to provide data for downstream applications for manufacturing and analysis.
The first step in working with custom properties is to create a property table. The Property Tables command allows you to create a table that stores information about the property, such as the table name, property name, property data type, and default value for the property. You can create this information or read it in from an external file.
Once you have defined custom properties, you can use the Attach Property command to attach the properties to geometry in the model. You can attach properties to the edges and faces of the base body, as well as any construction body. You can also attach properties to the edges of coordinate systems.
The Query Properties command allows you to query, edit, and delete property instances in the current file. The command allows you to specify a number of different query parameters. You can query:
All properties in a file.
All properties in a file that use a specific table.
All properties a file that use a specific table with an item value equal to a specific entry.
All properties in a file regardless of the table that have a specific file name.
