Save Settings

Lists saved hole settings. You can access the saved settings by selecting them from the list. The settings on the dialog box display the characteristics of the hole you select. You can type a name in the box to name a group of settings.

Save

Saves the current settings to the name you type.

Delete

Deletes the saved settings selected in the Saved Settings box.

Settings

Specifies the hole type and defines the parameters for the type of hole you are constructing. The options available in this area are determined by the hole type.

Type

Lists the available hole types. You can specify Simple, Threaded, Tapered, Counterbore, or Countersink holes. When you set the Threaded, Counterbore, or Countersink options, you can also specify the thread type you want.

Unit

Sets the measurement units for the hole. This option controls whether the values used are in inches or millimeters for the hole you are constructing.

Standard Thread

Specifies that you want a standard thread for the hole. This option is available when the Thread option is set.

Straight Pipe Thread

Specifies that you want a straight pipe thread for the hole. This option is available when the Thread option is set.

Diameter

Sets the hole diameter. The list of available hole sizes is stored in an external text file, Holes.txt, which is located in the C:\Program Files\Solid Edge ST6\Preferences folder. You can edit this file to add more hole sizes to the default list.

Countersink Diameter

Sets the countersink diameter for countersunk holes.

Countersink Angle

Sets the countersink angle for countersunk hole types. The angle you specify represents the total included angle of the countersink.

Sets the thread size. This option is not available unless the hole Diameter box matches a valid thread size in the Holes.txt or PipeThreads.txt files.

Thread

If you change the Thread value to a different thread size, the Diameter box will update to reflect the change.

To Hole Extent

Specifies that you want the thread to extend the entire depth of the hole.

Finite Extent

Specifies that you want the thread to extend a finite depth in the hole.

Finite Extent Depth

Specifies the extent depth of the thread. This option is available only for a finite extent thread.

Preview

Shows you the result of your settings before you apply them.

Extents

Specifies the extent or depth of the hole you are constructing. You can also specify the shape at the bottom of holes that do not extend completely through the part.

Through All

Sets the extent to through all. The hole is constructed through all of the faces encountered on the part.

Through Next

Sets the extent to through next. The hole is constructed through the first exterior face encountered on the part.

From/To

Sets the extent of the hole by specifying two part faces. The entry face does not have to be the face that the hole circle is on.

Finite

Sets the extent to finite.

Hole Depth

Sets the depth of the finite hole you are constructing. This option is available only when you select the Finite Extent option.

V-bottom Angle

Makes the bottom of the hole a V shape. This option is available only when you select the Finite Extent option. You can set the angle for the bottom of the hole. The angle you specify represents the total included angle of the bottom of the hole.

Dimension to Flat

Specifies that the hole depth will dimension to the flat portion of the hole where the v-bottom angle starts. This option is available only when you select the Finite Extent option.

Dimension to V

Specifies that the hole depth will dimension to the v-bottom of the hole. This option is available only when you select the Finite Extent option.

Save As Default

Saves the current settings as the default. Saved defaults will be used the next time you use this command. If you do not save the current settings as defaults, the previous default settings will be used.
