Solid Edge documents store project designs, and most often complete projects are comprised of many Solid Edge documents. The relationships that exist among these documents must be tracked and maintained. Since project designs change over time, document versions must also be tracked and controlled. A well-controlled system provides easy access for those with proper authority for reviewing, printing, editing, and approving documents, and protects documents from access by those without proper authority. The workflow required to accomplish these tasks is called document management.
The Solid Edge document management system provides you the opportunity to:
Perform basic file operations such as opening and saving unmanaged documents.
Find documents based on their properties.
Preview documents created in Solid Edge, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
Save documents in alternate formats.
Move managed folders and documents to reflect changes in organization.
Generate document revisions, including edits to links.
Change the access control status of documents.
Route documents for review and approval.
