Create a total length parts list

You can use this procedure to create a total length parts list or a cut length parts list for piping or frame components. Total length parts lists show all members of a specific pipe or frame on the same row in the parts list. This can be used to produce a list of total lengths for purchasing.

  1. Choose the Home tab→Tables group→Parts List command .

  2. On the drawing sheet, select a part view.

  3. On the Parts List command bar, click the Properties button.

  4. In the Parts List Properties dialog box, click the Columns tab.

  5. On the Columns page, do the following:

    1. From the Properties list, select Total Length, and then click the Add Column button.

    2. Use the above technique to select the additional columns that you want to show in a total length or cut length parts list, such as Mass (Item), Mass (Quantity), Miter Cut 1, and Miter Cut 2.

    Tip:

When you create a total length parts list, the Quantity column is not populated for frame members. You can remove the Quantity column by selecting it from the Columns list and then clicking Delete Column.

  6. Click the Options tab, and then do the following:

    1. Select the Create a Total Length Parts List check box.

    2. Type values in the Pipe Rough Cut End Clearance box or Frame Rough Cut End Clearance box, as appropriate.

    3. In the Item Numbers section, select the item numbering options you want to use.

    4. Click Apply.

  7. Move your cursor to the location on the drawing sheet where you want to place the parts list, and then click.

Tip:

  • To create a cut length parts list instead of a total length list, do both of the following:

    1. On the Columns page, add a column for the Cut Length property (not the Total Length property).

    2. On the Options page, clear the Create A Total Length Parts List check box.

    Note:

    • A cut length value displayed parenthetically ( ) indicates an approximate value. For example, (406.83 mm) is an approximate value.

    • Cut length can be synchronized with Teamcenter. The value appears as a Note in Product Structure Editor.

  • For pipes and tubes, you can sort the parts list by Component Type order using the Sorting tab.

  • You can use the Pipe and Frame Uniqueness criteria on the Options tab to specify how to compare individual structural frame members or pipes to determine whether they are the same or different.

Leave all boxes unchecked to produce the roughest calculation, similar to a total lengths parts list.

  • For mass to be shown in a parts list, a material must be defined in the parts. Use the Material Table command to apply a material to a part.

  • Together, the Miter Cut 1 and Miter Cut 2 properties extract the angles from the cut ends of a frame or pipe element.

  • To learn how you can change the appearance of individual elements of a table—titles, columns, headers, and data cells—without changing the table style, see the Help topic, Formatting columns and data cells.
